Inspired by Reggio Emilia and Danish pre-schools, this is a school like no other. We have a very personalised approach, building learning environments that are meaningful to every child, because we know that children learn best when they are engaged in their learning.   This is a new school and a new way of learning for the families in West Newcastle. We aim to provide space and time for children to develop a deeper way of learning, seek and for parents to be engaged in that process. By exploring learning in small groups and in many different contexts; the city, forest, beach, school and home we will ensure every child has many opportunities to learn in ways the best match their interests. We hope that supportive environment, together with a high ratio of skilled staff, volunteers and parents, will enable children to be enthusiastic and independent learners. Children will be encouraged and expected to outperform their peers educationally, socially and make a positive contribution to their community.

I'm sure it's a great school. My mum hates living next to it She has lived here for 20 years. Now elderly and disabled she can't stand the noise of the screaming kids she's had enough. The school should not have been placed right next to housing for the elderly. My mum has deteriorated health wise since this school was built. I moved back into mums for a bit started working nights I had to move jobs because I couldn't sleep during the day because of the racket the kids make

I've not known any other good schools in Newcastle that beat WNA! All the staff, right from Susan, the headteacher are AMAZING! My girls, Rana & Aymal had a great time and learned so much during their time in the school. Thank you Susan and all the staff. And the Friends of Newcastle Academy. As once a member, I always enjoyed the activities we organised for our children and the school. You too are amazing.

A wonderful school, focused on developing children as individual learners as part of an outdoors and play based learning approach. Adopting a unique blend of pedagogy founded on the Reggio approach, children learn to explore the world through various games that are centred on building and developing knowledge and resilience for future success. Brilliant, well designed and ensures children make good (or better) progress.
