Welcome and thank you for your interest in The Birley Academy

It is a real privilege to serve as the Headteacher at The Birley Academy and work alongside the most amazing pupils, staff and families every day.

Here we challenge ourselves and each other to always strive for more. We protect and support each other. We inspire and guide each other. We empathise and we are compassionate. We do all of this routinely.

We want our pupils to have the best education, in and out of the classroom; in this, we are supported by the LEAD Academy Trust of which we are part. Every pupil is expected to work hard and make the best of all that the academy has to offer though the curriculum and through enrichment opportunities. We embody four core principles; strong leadership at every level; empowering every pupil to aim high; giving every pupil the opportunity to achieve and constantly driving for improvement.

In our environment which is academically challenging, respectful and caring, we expect our pupils to become highly educated, responsible, resilient and compassionate citizens equipped to make a valuable contribution to society here and as they move on to higher education, further training and their future careers.

Staff work tirelessly to ensure that learning is relevant, purposeful, engaging and rewarding because we believe that every pupil is capable of fantastic achievements. In addition, we acknowledge, value and expect the support of our parents in their children’s education.

We are proud of our pupils and we want them to be proud to be part of our academy.
