VERY SLEEZY MARKETING On the 17th of July we placed an order for eight dining table chairs. Overall, we don’t have a particularly glowing impression of Oak Furnitureland’s offerings, as they seem to cater to the budget friendly market. The furniture is poorly made Vietnam imports. If you’re on a tight budget, it’s certainly a way to furnish your home as long as you have modest expectations. We did find a chair that seemed reasonably well made, so fingers crossed. We were told that we would have to wait until September 9th to take delivery of the chairs. A lengthy period of time, but we figured it is what it is, so we’ll just use folding chairs until they arrive. We assumed the delay was simply manufacturing turn around times. Then, a couple of days ago I received an enthusiastic email and text, announcing that we “may” be able to get our chairs sooner. What follows is about as sleezy a thing as I have ever encountered with any company. It turns out that we could have our chairs in just a few days IF we upgrade our delivery option, a charge of either £40 or £70. Now I grant you that if the delivery people are going to do more than simply drop the furniture off at your doorstep, it involves more time at the destination and therefore an extra charge is justified, fair enough. But we ordered chairs, there’s no extra work to be done, other than bringing them into the house. By the way the £20 optional extra to bring them in, didn’t qualify for the earlier delivery date. What on earth has the level of delivery service got to do with the date of delivery? In essence they are holding our chairs as ransom, unless we pay the extra. No thanks, we’ll wait until 9th September, I refuse to give in to this kind of scummy marketing. If I could have cancelled the entire order I would. But we paid with a debit card and fighting with them is something I just don’t have the time to do. Oak Furnitureland, shame on you, what a truly sleezy company you are.

All I can say is thank you for the assistance in getting my new furniture sorted - I was assisted by Richard in the Norwich branch and he was excellent with both sales advice and after sale customer care - I am really grateful - will be back to buy some items soon.

Mo, the deputy manager of the Norwich store, was the most helpful, sincere chap,went above and beyond to help me sort a problem I had with a chair. Fantastic customer service from him, and hopefully, the company recognises this!!

A bit disappointing to be truthful visited over a week ago hoping to buy a bookcase, found one that was perfect......... Now here's the thing we were told that it wasn't on the system so they could not process the sale so they took my number and still waiting for the call over a week later.......
