For the past 13 years I have campaigned against plans for a Park & Ride in Harbledown, originally at Hall Place and then on the pear orchards below Kent College Junior School.  In April 2014 the council finally agreed to remove all references from the draft Local Plan to a Park & Ride in Harbledown. I chaired the Best Value Review which recommended the establishment of the Whitstable Harbour Board.  I subsequently chaired the Harbour Board for the first seven years during which time we turned round the harbour’s finances and it has become an extremely successful niche port.
