McCrae's Bed and Breakfast

McCrae's is a family-run bed and breakfast, conveniently located in Edinburgh's historic New Town close to the City Centre, that strives to make a minimal impact on our environment. We offer our guests affordable, high-quality accommodation that quite literally doesn't cost the earth and will help reduce your carbon-footprint while enjoying our wonderful city. We are a traditional Edinburgh main door apartment in a block that is over 150 years old and many period features, such as ornate cornicing, have been retained; the decor is a tasteful mix of old and new.

You can experience everything Edinburgh has to offer and then relax in one of our quiet, comfy en-suite rooms with our mainly organic breakfasts setting you up for the day. We source everything as locally as possible so you'll be getting a taste of the best Scotland has to offer. We've been supporting the Organic / Fairtrade movement as a family for many years and want to give guests the opportunity to do so too, while keeping our rates as affordable as other establishments offering standard fare. The quality of the produce we use is second to none and we're sure you'll appreciate the difference. We also provide  eco-friendly toiletries and only use eco-friendly products on our organic cotton bed-linen and towels. 

When you stay with us you'll enjoy the personal touch a family-run establishment has to offer. Our priority is to help make your stay in Scotland's Capital as enjoyable as possible. It's a fantastic city to visit, all year round; great for just a city-break or as a starting point for a wider tour. Stayed here for 2 weeks, it was a wonderful stay! Room and common space are always nice and clean, breakfast‘s very fresh and healthy. The location is quiet, but very convenient to city center. John the owner‘s wonderful! He is very accommodating and extremely helpful! Thank you very much! Highly recommended!

Had a lovely weekend in Edinburgh staying here. The room was clean, modern and everything you could want on hand. The hosts made us feel safe with covid precautions and were very friendly and accommodating.

Spacious, clean, modern rooms and bathrooms, excellent beds and linens and a quiet convenient location around the corner from a lively street with good restaurants. There are only three rooms and the owner takes care of everything personally and is affable and helpful. It's a continental breakfast, just as described on the website, and the owner kindly kept food available for us when we slept late. We were delighted with our stay!
