Manhattan34 is a Leicester cocktail bar styled and inspired by the end of Prohibition in 1934.
America saw an explosion of bars and speakeasies in the mid-1930s. The end of Prohibition brought new freedom. This gave the American people the chance to meet, drink and express their creativity in a way that had been shunned. Experimental bartenders developed exciting new combinations of flavours. The artistic and music scenes also flourished in the new environment. Socialising was the new order of the day.
Here at Manhattan34 our aim is to capture the atmosphere of that time, in every detail of our bar. Our art deco styling gives you an elegant place to unwind. The busy programmes of live music and comedy showcase local creativity. Our exceptional cocktails are made from only the finest ingredients by expert bartenders. Miriam Bean5 StarWe hired both floors of Manhattan34 for our reception to celebrate our civil partnership. We had an amazing night, with fantastic cocktails, live jazz and a lively dance floor in the basement. The team were really accommodating, helping us set up in the afternoon as we were providing our own food and decorations. We were able to offer Prosecco to our guests on arrival and drinks tokens at the bar, but were given the option to have bought more drinks in cases (wine, beer etc) if we had preferred. We had a mix of friends and family, from ages 6 months to 70+, and everyone said how lovely the venue was and had a brilliant time. By the end of the night, when most of us were downstairs, the staff were busy tidying up for us upstairs so we didn’t have much to pack away the following day. One of the best things about the venue is that it felt cosy and welcoming and yet we could have 80+ guests without it feeling too crowded. I highly recommend Manhattan34 for your next party!Thursday 7th July 2022
