An iconic piece of challenging 1960s cinema and a gripping narrative on its own terms,

L’avventura

concerns the enigmatic disappearance of a young woman during a yachting trip off the coast of Sicily, and the search taken up by her disaffected lover (Gabriele Ferzetti

) and best friend (Monica Vitti

). Antonioni’s controversial masterwork is a gorgeously shot tale of modern ennui and spiritual isolation.

We hired this wonderful space for a preview screening of a movie we are working on. It was a memorable evening. The screen size, picture quality and sound quality in the cinema itself were of the highest spec imaginable. Once the lights went down it was easy to feel as though you were in a much larger cinema, but with the added intimacy that a smaller space like this provides. The library / cafe / bar provides the perfect welcoming and decompression space for before and after the movie. Populated and staffed by young cinema enthusiasts, you are likely to be drawn into a conversation about the pros and cons of 'method' acting, the works of a particular French New Wave director or the Kuleshov effect (all overheard on the night!). The coffee, beers and wines are curated rather than an after thought. All in all - wow!

Fantastic venue, affordable, perfect size and decor to host the private screening of our short film 'Transgressing'. An enjoyable evening had by all. Highly recommended. Thank you to Damien and the staff at Close-Up.

I organised an event at the Close-up film center and had a great experience. The staff were super friendly, attentive and professional. I can totally recommend the place if you want to organise a screening in a lovely and very central place in London. Thank you so much to the team!

An excellent venue for screenings. I showed my short film here to a group of 40 people and it was absolutely brilliant. The bar is the perfect size to entertain and greet everyone before and after the screenings and the cinema is so comfortable and nice! Will definitely be back again soon!
