Excellent customer service. Lovely gym. Great facilities. Everything clean and well maintained. Sauna and steam room area not very relaxing as groups of people in there talking at the top of their voice like they are in a pub. But other than that, really enjoyable experience.

UNCLEAN! The staff in Newport are great and always accommodating. They are always very welcoming. I am guessing that through no fault of the staffs, fundings are low. This would explain lack of cleaners. I have major issues with the cleanliness of the changing rooms. They are not cleaned regularly enough or properly. Floor is always dirty and shower cubicles are hardly cleaned. 😒 Cleaning once or twice a day is not enough for a busy changing room. If things don't improve we will be leaving when my partners membership ends.

My husband brought me the ‘gift of wellness’ for Christmas last year. As we live in Newport I decided to redeem it at their branch. I activated it on Sunday 29th October (at the same time as my husband purchasing a day pass). There was a long wait for the staff to activate my monthly pass so they let me in with the band on this occasion as they were unsure of what the ‘gift of wellness’ was despite having them for sale by reception? At the time I was told I would be emailed my membership number the next day so I would be able to use it to book online gym classes, use the pool, etc, however, the email confirmation never arrived. We then attended together again on Saturday 11th November and exactly the same thing happened. They had my husband’s details on the system but did not have any record of mine, so once again I had to wait and it was only by luck that the girl who dealt with me on the previous occasion was there otherwise I wouldn't have been allowed in. Once again, I did not receive an email confirmation so I was unable to use the facilities and classes. Basically, my husband brought this gift for £89 but it has been a complete waste of money as I have not been able to use any of the classes (which I was looking forward too) and on both occasions they have no record of me on the system despite my husband being bombarded with emails which we both found very frustrating. I sent an email to the manager at the Newport branch on 25th November asking if he could contact me asap. As a week has passed without them even having the decency to acknowledge my email I feel I need to leave this review. It is such a shame as the pool, sauna and steam room were fantastic and I’ve no doubt once you get a regular membership it is worth the money but feel the ‘gift of wellness’ is a complete waste of money and it has left us disappointed in Banatyne's as an organisation and my husband upset as it was a gift that I was unable to use to it’s full potential.

Update on the updated review: Same staff member that said he will sue the gym and the other members decided by himself to close the gym about 50 minutes earlier on a Saturday. I've been told that they close the barriers at their own discretion (other staff members told me it's 30 minutes before closing time which seems reasonable). Anyways... after taking my time and using fuel to travel to the gym I am being told I can't go in. I arrived at 7 13~ PM on a Saturday. I'm cancelling my membership and won't be joining again. There's a 12 months contract to join and I would really think hard if I were to join, read the other comments. It's a lot of money for potentially a really bad experience. Please see the original below Updated review: Previously I've said that the gym is starting to look more like pure-gym and less like a proper "health club". Have recently noticed the gym is in a better condition. Staff seems to be putting back weights and equipment being left in random places by members which is not entierly fair for the staff as I'm sure they have better things to do, but the gym overall seems to be in a better condition now. Staff is always friendly and have not encountered any of the staff that previously threatened to sue the members if they slip on the water that we drip after getting out of the pool. Would I recommend this gym now? Maybe, yes.

Spotlessly clean, very chilled and friendly atmosphere. I haven't tried the pool yet but looking forward to it
